Oki Post operates Responsible Transportation Services in Georgia by launching first cardboard and polyethylene recycling projects within the shipping industry of Georgia called “Give Cardboard box New life, Recycle with Oki Post” and “Give Polyethylene bag New life, Recycle with Oki Post” respectively. Customers, who prefer to recycle their parcel's packaging can use Oki Post as a collection point and leave cardboard and polyethylene directly at our office.
Collected packaging is recycled at the premises of the specialized Recycling Company. Currently, more than 5000 customers recycle together with Oki Post, which resulted in 300>kg of recycled packaging.
By implementing packaging recycling programs Oki Post is involved in a circular economy in Georgia and implements UN SDGs 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) 13 (Climate Action) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) as well as the Paris Agreement and fulfills activities effectively, which are needed to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a zero-carbon world.
The program was chosen among the finalists of the Corporate Responsibility Awards 2021 organized by UN Global Compact Network Georgia, with the support of the Swedish Government and in partnership with USAID Georgia and the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia.
Tamar Abzianidze started both programs at Oki Post and continues initiating various environmental and social projects, which will be implemented at Oki Post in the nearest future.
